PROVING LINES PARALLEL

Angle relationships allow us to prove that lines in a plane cut by a transversal are parallel.

If corresponding angles are congruent, then the lines are parallel.

If alternate interior angles are congruent, then the lines are parallel.

If same-side interior angles are supplementary, then the lines are parallel.

If alternate exterior angles are congruent, then the lines are parallel.

If two lines are perpendicular to the same line, then the lines are

parallel.

SKEW lines do not intersect and are not coplanar.

CORRESPONDING angles are CONGRUENT SAME-SIDE INTERIOR angles are SUPPLEMENTARY

When two parallel lines are cut by a transversal ALTERNATE INTERIOR angles are CONGRUENT.
